Summary:Two battalions of Congolese troops were given parachute training by the Israeli army in September 1963. Among the trainees was General Mobutu, Commander-in-Chief of the Congolese National Army. He received his 'wings' from Levi Eshkol, the Israeli Prime Minister at a special champagne celebration in the base canteen.
