Summary:Speaking at the Washington Press Club on October 6 1963, Sir Roy Welensky, Prime Minister of the Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland, warned that the system of Federal Government operated by Britain in the area had become, in effect, representative of the white man only - and that had led to racial tension and division.Note: The Federation of Rhodesia and Nyasaland was formed in 1953 and dissolved in 1963 and consisted of: Nyasaland - which became Malawi in 1963, Northern Rhodesia - which became Zambia in 1964 and Southern Rhodesia - which became Zimbabwe in 1980.
