Summary:John Fitzgerald Kennedy, 34th President of the United States, was assassinated on November 22, 1963, as he drove in an open-topped car on his way to a political festival in Dallas, Texas. Governor John Connally was also wounded in the shooting.The President was taken to near-by Parkland Hospital but died shortly after the shooting. Jacqueline Kennedy, who was sat next to he husband in the car but unharmed, was at his bedside.Lee Harvey Oswald was arrested for the assassination within hours of the shooting but was himself shot two days later before he could be brought to trial.
