- Story Text: Leicester City manager Claudio Ranieri said on Wednesday (May 18) that the newly-crowned English Premier League champions were looking to bring in new players but no superstars.
After winning the title for the first time in the club's 132-year history, the team and their Thai owners showed off the trophy to cheering fans on stage at an event in Bangkok, during which Ranieri said he was looking for players to reinforce his team.
"For us it's not so important to bring some superstars, it's important to bring the players that has a heart and they play with heart and with the soul. This is was one of our secret this season and for us is important, for me is important to have two players for each position because we have a lot competition to do and that is important to be ready for each competition," he said.
As well as competing in the English domestic competitions Leicester will play in the European Champions League for the first time next season, but the club insist that they will not just sign just anyone, any new players must be able to fit into their close-knit squad.
"The new players have to be able to play with us. I won't just accept any player, if they join us, they have to live with our family, the way we are," said team chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.
The club have been branded "Thailand's team" as they are owned by King Power, the duty-free franchise that has made Srivaddhanaprabha one of Thailand's richest men.
The fans will get a chance to show their appreciation on Thursday when they will parade the trophy through Bangkok, although they will not be able to see striker Jamie Vardy and midfielder Danny Drinkwater who are with the England squad preparing for the European Championship. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
