- Story Text:There is still no hint of an end to the crisis between the United States and iran. On Wednesday (26 December) Iran's leader, Ayatollah Ruhollah Khomeini, warned that the confrontation between the two countries could lead to war. On Christmas Day (25 December), three Christian clergymen held services inside the occupied U.S. Embassy for the fifty Americans held hostage for the past seven weeks.
SYNOPSIS: Later, the clergymen told newsmen there was no indication that the hostages would be released soon. They described their emotional reunion to a crowded news conference.
The Reverend William Sloane Coffin said the hostages looked good, healthy, and were getting enough to eat. He said some of them bore the tension better than others, but that was to be expected. The Reverend Coffin said the hostages were allowed an hour to exercise each day and their hands were no longer tied. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS - SOURCE TO BE VERIFIED
