ABZUG: "If you're able to accumulate all this rotten stuff about people making believe that they're legitimate activities which they are exercising to safeguard our democracy--it seems some how out of question--by some super agency, super snoopers, the FBI. I just can't see how you can continue when you say you are not going to do it any more and yet you are going to do it." "COLBY: No, I say I am not going to do the questionable ones. I said we would still have the responsibility to assist the FBI in legitimate questions abroad about relating to the internal security of the United States. We have a number of systems of records. Our main system involving several foreign political, military, scientific, economic, technical and cultural personalities. This information is filed alphabetically by the name of the individual within the country of citizenship. The name of some US citizens or permanent resident aliens do appear. We do not know how many. They appear because they may have been associated with somebody else, because we do not know what their nationality is when the item is collected or we may have run across the name in some other way."
