- Story Text:The Annual pre-Christmas Drive in the 'Commodore' - the London to Rochester stage coach - drawn by four fine silver grey horses will set out with the 'Charles Dickens' party and 'The Sprit of Christmas', from the Dickens House, 48, at 2.15 p.m. on The Route then taken will be via: Fleet Street and the Strand, to Trafalgar Square. The equipage will then pass through Piccadilly, later Regent Street to end the 150th Anniversary year of Celebrations, thence Bond Street, to Crewe House, Curzon Street, Mayfair (by Shepherd Market) to rest the horses 5.30 p.m. Soon afterwards the party leaves in the coach for the Headquarters of the London Tourist Board, 4, Grosvenor Gardens, S.W.l. from which point about 6.20 p.m. the party leaves for St. Peter's Church, Eaton Square, S.W.l., where "Mr. Charles Dickens" (Mr. David Harding) will herald Christmas with a reading from his favourite winter book "A Christmas Carol" interspersed with Carols and music in season, starting approximately 6.30 p.m. (by kind permission of the Rector) Seasonal refreshments will be available afterwards.
