GUINEAN AMBASSADOR MIRIAM MAKEBA: "The racist colonialism of South Africa is far from wishing to negotiate. It merely wishes to gain time, with the advice of international imperialism. Mr. president, the government of the party state of Guinea has often stated that it is less sensitive to intentions than to reality and significance of act, having regard to the specific interest of peoples. No confusion must divert us from the only solution which must prevail, the burial of apartheid through armed struggle and the seizure of power by the people of South Africa as to initiate a regime of freedom, social justice and democratic peace." Uganda's permanent representative, Reo Khalid independence of Transkei as 'a sham'. U.N. Ugandan representative Reo Kinene:"After Vorster had meetings with Mr. Kissinger, he assured his supporters recently in Bloemfontein that he had no intention for the present or for the future to share power with the blacks. He said that blacks could participate in the government, but only in their homelands. He has implemented this y granting a sham independence to Transkei to be followed y their homelands." On the same day s the debate, the European Economic Community issued a statement saying the world should maintain ties with white-ruled South Africa in order to encourage peaceful change there.
