A transcript follows: MAJOR GENERAL SHUWA: "In recent years, Nigeria has given to other developing African countries, financial aid to the tune of 60,000,000 U.S. dollars. This amount may not mean much to the developed nations, but to us it constitutes a significant sacrifice. In June 1975, Nigeria voluntarily increases her capital stock in the African development Bank by approximately 9,000,000 U.S. dollars. In the same month, she established a Trust Fund of 80,000,000 U.S. dollars in the same bank for assistance to the less-endowed members of the bank. In addition, my government has entered into a number of bilateral and multi-lateral co-operation arrangements and projects with other African countries. These limited efforts, are a token of our commitments to the principle of, and need for, economic co-operation among developing Countries". JOSEPH STARIBACHAR: "The main objective of international action on the commodity front should be the stabilisation of market conditions with a view to achieving prices at a level just to consumers, and remuneration to producers, and thus bringing about a greater stability to the export earnings of producing developing countries. Any measure in this field, however, should take into account the long term trends in commodity markets, as well as the necessity for the security of supply for the consumer countries". Joseph Staribachar then spoke for Austria on fears over raw material supplies. Initials RH/1840 RH/PK/AW/1849 Script is copyright Reuters Limited. All rights reserved
