TRANSCRIPT: SEQ. 3: President Mobutu: "For many centuries, the situation of the black man in Africa has continued to deteriorate. Under the pretext of having come to Africa to civiles ???s, their primary objective has been to rob us of our fundamental wealth, notably in the commerce of slavery. And already in this epoch, the leaders were the Portuguese. In effect, Portugal is a country economically, socially and culturally under-developed, without democracy. (applause) and without military force, without any achievement, and the highest illiteracy rate in Europe (applause). Its force and its arrogance comes straight form its membership in N.A.T.O. Today, when we have political, economic and social stability, we cannot be content ourselves when our brothers in Angola, Mozambique, Zimbabwe, South Africa, and Namibia, are still under Portugal's colonialist yoke, the British colonialists of Rhodesia, and the South African racists. Zaire is the connecting link between several Central African countries. It is surrounded by French-speaking countries, English-speaking countries, and Arabic-speaking countries. Franc Fanon stated that Africa had the form of a revolver pointed at the stomach of Zaire. In consequence (applause) there is this imperative abolition of faire to give its material and military contribution to all the neighbouring countries still subjugated by the colonialists."
