- Date: 13th September 1973
- Summary: 1. GV Horse (Secretariat) doing time trial round track 0.19 2. SCU Trainer being interviewed: 0.48 3. Secretariat being out with Jockey and led by Stableboy. 1.00 4. CU Owner Mrs. Tweadie: 1.28 5. SV Secretariat being led into stables 1.42 LAURIN: Well I thought the work-out this morning was out of this world. I think he was running very very well. INTERVIEWER: Do you think he's ready now for saturday's big race? LAURIN: I would have to say yes. Though he was running, like, just within himself. Like he was working at his thing and winning all them races, and he was working real good, and trusted the jockey what he did, and I think he'll run a pretty good race Saturday. INTERVIEWER: Who do you expect the most competition from on Saturday? LAURIN: All of them. SECOND INTERVIEW: TWEEDIE: He said Secretariat would work faster than Riva did yesterday. Riva went fifty-seven and one, and Secretariat went in fifty-seven. So I lost a penny for one fifth of a second. And as usual he was right. INTERVIEWER: Do you have a favourite in Saturday's race? TWEEDIE: No For I... for a long time I was... well Riva was my first love, but I think Secretariat has caught up now. I'm really going to be rooting for both of them. I hope they come down nose to nose. Initials AE/18.55 AE/19.28 THE FOLLOWING IS A TRANSCRIPTION OF INTERVIEWS CONTAINED IN THE FILM WITH (1ST) TRAINER LUCIEN LAURIN, AND (2ND) MRS.
