Sanford. 1.33 GILL: "You represent the people of French Polynesia in the French National Assembly; you're against the French tests -- we can see the French flag flying at half mast from your office here. What's your plan -- what are you going to do about it?" SANFORD: "We are trying to stop that like your government and the New Zealand government is helping us -- they are helping us, the people of Australia, New Zealand, the crew of the "Fri" who came here to try to that atomic tests and send here some people to control the radioactivity, but no answer from the French Government". GILL: "I understand you're so serious about it though, you'd like to secede now from France, to break ties with France altogether." SANFORD: "Well, we send a telegram to Mr. (word indistinct) to tell him the facts and we tell him this: 'If you don't stop all atomic tests in our area we will ask for complete freedom from French'. That's our last hope to stop the abomination." GILL: "Did he reply?" SANFORD: "No answer. The answer was the next day the blast, and he send here the Minister of the Army."
