The white supremacist regime of the Republic of South Africa has been condemned by the United Nations General Assembly for the continued suppression of the human rights and the political liberties of the black majority of that country in violation of the basic principles of the United Nations and its charter, and we demand that the United States Government and all United States organisations cease cultural, sporting and all other relations and exchanges with the Republic of South Africa." A petition calling for the expulsion of south Africa from the United Nations was released at the United Nations on Wednesday. Executive Secretary of the petition's organisers, Mr. Anthony Monteiro, read out the petition. Later, in the United Nations General Assembly, a resolution condemning apartheid was passed. The resolution was passed much more quickly than expected and most of the debate was taken up with procedural matters.
