- Summary: Australia's Bumblee.... front runner in all the Admirals cup Races ... was out in front again as#bumblee at sea#the multi national fleet tackled the six-hundred-mil#(four shots)Fastnet race. And she seems set to take line honour at the famous British naval port of Plymouth on Tuesday morning..... wind and tide permitting. The pace setting Australian was the first to round the Fastnet Rock/just off the Irish Coast and was still thought to be in the lead when the scattered fleet started to pass the Lizard Rock... near the South west tip of England. 1 to 23 ft In second spot at this stage was the American#( charisma usa)#yacht Charisma caught in a darkening squall. 24 to 28 ft Although Australia is sixth in the team points#Love and war Australia#table, they have another entry ... Love and War... well placed at this stage of the race. 29 to 42 ft The white hulled yacht with the two distinctive side ports was reckoned to be in twentieth place as the fleet started up the English Channel. A combination of changing weather and tides could entirely alter the situation. Coming out of the#Arials of competitors.#Irish sea, the fleet found sunshine and freshening windsm, and soon spread their spinnakers to put on speed for the finish. 43 to 65 ft But latent reports indicate the wind has dropped again...testing the skill of the skippers as they balance the light air against the fast-running tides of the English Channel. Many of them must remember the nightmare situation of the 1973 series when yachts were becalmed a mere 200 yards from the finish line...
