- Title: U.S.A.: RABIN INTERVIEWED ON ALLEGED EGYPTIAN VIOLATIONS OF CEASE-FIRE
- Date: 19th August 1970
- Summary: 1. SV Rabin with interviewer 0.11 2. MV ZOOM IN TO CU..Rabin 1.49 TRANSCRIPT: SEQ. 2: REPORTER: " Mr Ambassador, what kind of evidence do you have to prove Egyptian violations of the cease-fire ?" RABIN: "Well, I'm not going into details of what kind of evidence we have. We believe we have irrefutable evidence from many sources in which we can prove that there were violations of the standstill which is part of the cease-fire. The Egyptians moved ground-to-air missiles after the cease-fire, and, as the Foreign Minister said yesterday in Israel, it continued several days after the day of the cease-fire. The Egyptians, since September '69, could not succeed to bring to the proximity of the Canal any ground-to-air system on a permanent basis. They succeeded to do it only after the cease-fire. Second, of course, it means we'll enter negotiations from a standpoint of weakness. The fact that there is such a system there, serves as a great military advantage to the Egyptian side, and of course conducting the negotiations under the threat of opening fire any time with the difficulties that we have to face, as a result of it, means a lot to us."
