- Story Text: Tokyo 2020 and International Olympic Committee (IOC) officials met on Tuesday (October 13) to hold a fourth project review ahead of the Games scheduled to be held in Tokyo on 2020.
Key figures in both of the Olympic organizations attended the meeting, including IOC Chairman John Coates and Tokyo 2020 President Yoshiro Mori.
"We are especially excited to hear updates this week, arriving at a very special moment of the history of the Olympic movement. Just shortly after you have submitted the Tokyo 2020 additional event proposals to the IOC," Coates said during his opening remarks.
"Rio will provide for you next year, a unique opportunity to observe for your teams to present and work with the organizing committee and to refine some of your assumptions," Coates added.
According to a Tokyo 2020 official, the Olympic officials will discuss everything from accommodation, transportation, and on each event.
The Tokyo 2020 Games has had its share of embarrassments. Organisers have had to scrap a plan for the new Olympic stadium due to high costs, and drop its official emblem over accusations of plagiarism. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
