- Story Text: The son of Princess Madeleine of Sweden and her U.S.-British husband Chris O'Neill was christened at the Drottningholm Palace church on Sunday (October 11).
Nicolas Paul Gustaf, born in Stockholm on June 15, will be called Prince Nicolas and his royal title is Duke of Angermanland. Prince Nicolas' sister Leonore Lilian Maria was born in 2014.
Many well wishers had gathered at the palace grounds in the autumn sunshine to catch a glimpse of the baby prince.
Dustin Przybylski from Cologne in Germany said they had found out about the christening by accident.
"It's very exciting because we don't have this in Germany, we don't have a royal family so this very exciting to see," he said as the guests arrived for the ceremony.
Sandra Heine from Dortmund in Germany said she wanted to soak up the glamourous atmosphere.
"Just to feel the atmosphere, to see who's coming and to see how nice the people look. Handsome," she said.
Sunday's Christening was low-key compared to the Christening of Crown Princess Victoria's daughter Estelle's in 2012 when several members of Europe's royal families were present.
Prince Nicolas will have six godparents, among them his uncle Prince Carl Philip. Princess Madeleine and O'Neill chose friends and relatives as godparents and not other European royalty.
Princess Madeleine, fourth in line to the throne of Sweden, whose full title is Madeleine Therese Amelie Josephine, Princess of Sweden, Duchess of Halsingland and Gastrikland, married banker O'Neill in June 2013.
The family is based in London. O'Neill, born and raised in Britain but who also has U.S. citizenship, did not take the title of prince so he could continue his career.
