- Story Text: Stars dominated the Balmain x H&M show on Tuesday (October 20), with Kendall Jenner, Jourdan Dunn and Gigi Hadid leading the runway.
The opulent collection for H&M featured intricate embroidery, jewel encrusted dresses and embellished tops.
"It's maximalism," Balmain's creative director Olivier Rousteing said.
"This version is about the celebration of the richness, the flamboyance but also pop culture."
Top models Joan Smalls, Alessandra Ambrosio and Karlie Kloss donned black and white military styled looks with gold accents on the catwalk.
"I think the models I chose are my friends, all the girls that I love that can grab my hand and just say, 'Don't worry, it's going to be fun,'" Rousteing said.
"We're just enjoying. It's a night of love and of friendship and of fun."
Despite its current rock n' roll image, Balmain started out as a feminine Parisian couture house best known for its architectural, elegant creations. It was founded in 1945 by Pierre Balmain and shot to cult status under Christophe Decarnin's reign as its creative director from 2005 to 2011 before youthful designer Rousteing took the helm at the storied French couture label in 2011.
