- Story Text: Queen Elizabeth attended a ceremony along with the Sultan of Brunei celebrating 200 years of military service by Nepali Gurkhas on Tuesday (June 9) in London.
The Queen, Sultan of Brunei Hassanal Bolkiah and Prince Charles watched a variety of performances, from old fashioned re-enactments of battles to traditional dancing.
The Gurkhas are legendary fighters who have served in the British army since 1815 and taken part in two world wars and many other conflicts, from the Falklands to Iraq and Afghanistan. Their trademark is their curved kukri knife, which according to tradition must draw blood every time it is unsheathed.
Prince Philip and Prince Harry were also present at the event held at the Royal Hospital Chelsea in the British capital. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
