- Story Text: Governor of Oregon Kate Brown held a news conference on Friday (October 2) in Roseburg where she told reporters that now is the time to heal the community.
The governor was referring to the debate on gun control which she dismissed as an important debate but to be held at a later time.
"There is no single solution that will prevent every shooting but we must, and we will do better to prevent these types of senseless violence. This is a conversation that we will have but today is not the day, today we must be focused on providing the support and condolences to help this community heal," Brown said.
Also on Friday (October 2) trauma surgeon Scott Russi reported on the status of all three shooting victims that had been transferred to Peacehealth Hospital from the Roseburg Mercy Medical Center.
"We took in three patience yesterday from Roseburg Mercy Medical Center, they are all three stable at this time. We have downgraded one to a lower level of care formic critical she is going to be transferred out of the ICU to a ward for the reminder of her hospitalization," Russi reported.
He told reporters that the other two patients will recover from their injuries. "One has significant head injury but clinically she is doing well, I think from a standpoint she is going to recover from this injury," Russi said.
