- Story Text: The stream of migrants and refugees crossing from Croatia into Slovenia on foot continued on Tuesday (October 20), as police escorted some 2,000 exhausted people through fields near the Slovenian town of Brezice towards a reception centre.
One woman fainted on the way, and was left lying on the ground with two young children attempting to look after her until medical help arrived.
A policeman carried a small child, one of the many pushed to their physical limits after an arduous journey.
Slovenia's Interior Ministry said some 19,500 migrants have entered Slovenia since Friday (October 16) when Hungary sealed its southern border with Croatia, creating bottlenecks at Balkan border crossings as migrants attempted to find new routes through the region.
Slovenia said earlier this week it would deploy the army to guard its border and appealed for help from the European Union as migrants streamed through the tiny country. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
