  • Story Text: Parisian and tourists enjoyed the taste of French wine at Paris neighbourhood Montmartre's annual harvest Festival on Friday (October 9).
    This year the festival is at its 82nd edition.
    The cobblestones streets of one of Paris' most popular neighbourhood were full of stands of food and drinks, above all rosé, red and white wine coming from all over the country.
    As every year, the festival attracted tourists as well as locals.
    "Music, people, it is friendly, it is fun. It is really cool and the weather is nice. Really this is really going to be a nice weekend," said a Parisian after his first wine taste.
    "I think it is great: There is so many things from all over France and wine and cheese and oysters and… brilliant," said a Japanese tourist Kumiko Hashimoto who walked into the Festival by chance as she came to Montmartre to visit the Sacre Coeur Basilica.
    As well as presenting wines from numerous French regions, Montmartre's harvest festival celebrates since 1934 the wine made in the urban vineyard of Montmartre, called the Clos-Montmartre wine.
    "Montmartre is the only place that has a vineyard within the city, because vineyards generally are outside, so the special thing about Paris is that Montmartre has its own vineyard," said the director of Montmartre tourist office, Sylvie.
    The festival runs from the 7th till the 11th of October and the program includes fireworks, music, activities for children and lots of wine tasting.
