- Story Text: United Arab Emirates (UAE) Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed al-Nahyan, and his Cuban counterpart Bruno Rodriguez participated in an opening ceremony for the new UAE embassy in Havana on Monday (October 5).
During the inauguration Sheikh Abdullah and Rodriguez unveiled a plaque and the flags of both countries were raised.
Rodriguez to the opportunity to express Cuba's support for Arab independence.
"I want to reiterate Cuba's support of the Arab people defending their independence and territorial integrity," he said.
Sheikh Abdullah, who arrived as part of an official visit to the island on Monday (October 5), was optimistic about the future of bilateral relations between Cuba and the UAE.
"I'm convinced that in the next few years, we will see greater prosperity in our relationship, which will be a prosperous, fruitful relationship," he said.
