- Story Text:Former badminton world number one Lee Chong Wei said on Thursday (November 8) that he hopes to return to the court and play in the next Olympics after receiving treatment for nose cancer.
Earlier this year, the Malaysian, 36, withdrew from the World Championships in China and Asian Games in Indonesia due to what the Badminton Association of Malaysia (BAM) said at the time was a "respiratory-related disorder". Lee went to Taiwan in September for treatment for the disease which the BAM said was in its early stages.
Lee, who is currently ranked eighth in the world, has won 69 international titles and was silver medallist at the last three Olympic Games, said on Thursday that he hoped to be well enough to compete in the Tokyo Games in 2020. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
