- Story Text: For many sports stars, a birthday often goes unnoticed, but not for retired Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, who was engulfed by well-wishers on his 45th birthday outside his apartment in Mumbai, India, on Tuesday (April 24).
Hundreds of revellers waited from the early hours of Tuesday morning to wish their cricketing hero many happy returns, with Tendulkar certainly not losing any popularity since retiring from all forms of cricket in November 2013.
Fans braved scorching heat in Mumbai to get a glimpse of Tendulkar, with the ex-cricketer's wife, Anjali, also stepping outside to watch her husband sign autographs and take selfies with his supporters.
Elsewhere, in northern Moradabad city, students celebrated Tendulkar's birthday by making a cake and wearing face masks.
Tendulkar played in 200 Test matches for India with his final appearance coming at Mumbai's Wankhede Stadium in November 2013 against the West Indies.
He scored 15,921 Test runs and is the highest run scorer in international Test cricket history.
Tendulkar finished his career with more Test (51) and one-day (49) hundreds than any other player in cricket history. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
