South African cricketer, Faf Du Plessis, on Monday (November 2) said that spinner Ravichandran Ashwin will be the main threat they will face in the upcoming Test series against India.
The Proteas come into the four-test series which begins on Thursday (November 5) in Mohali, having already won the T20 and one-day international series with five victories to just two by India.
Ashwin missed virtually the whole of the one-day and T20 series because of injury, but is aiming to be fit for the test series with Du Plessis saying that South Africa are confident about facing him.
"He is India's main threat but we will plan very well for that and I have got confidence in our batting unit," he said, following a training session in Mohali.
Du Plessis added that playing Test cricket against India on their home turf will be a challenge.
"In India when it comes to Test cricket it's probably the hardest challenge. When you get to play in foreign conditions, what has helped us is (that) we have done really well so far in this tour. We played really good cricket so we have got a lot of confidence but the test cricket is still going to be the hardest challenge with wickets deteriorating and obviously suiting them even more," added Du Plessis. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
