- Story Text: India's Supreme Court on Wednesday (September 22) asked for a full investigation into the collapse of a footbridge near Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium, the main venue for the forthcoming Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.
Twenty-seven people were injured on Tuesday when the structure gave way.
The court also ordered immediate compensation for victims amounting to 100,000 rupees (about 2,250 U.S. dollars) for each victim.
There are serious fears preparations are so far behind schedule the venues and facilities for the Games, due to start on October 3 and continue for 12 days, will not be ready on time. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
