- Story Text: Indian President Pratibha Devisingh Patil on Monday (December 1) visited a Mumbai hospital to meet the victims of the Mumbai attack.
The three-day rampage in Mumbai, which began on Wednesday (November 26) killed at least 183 people and left nearly 300 wounded.
Cutting short a visit to Vietnam and Indonesia by two days, Patil visited JJ Hospital in Mumbai to see the injured the attack.
"Really I appreciate your service, your devotion and your hard work," she told the hospital staff.
Patil also visited other city hospitals to inquire about the several victims.
The attack in India's financial capital is one of the biggest in the history of the country, where a group of men armed with assault rifles and grenades -- at least some of whom arrived by sea -- had fanned out across Mumbai on Wednesday night to attack sites popular with tourists and businessmen, including the city's top two luxury hotels.
Elite commandoes on Saturday (November 29) completed operations to dislodge Islamist militants at the Taj Mahal hotel, ending three days of attacks in India's financial capital. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
