- Story Text: Tibetan exiles marched through the Indian capital, New Delhi, on Sunday (April 13) protesting against the Chinese crackdown in their homeland and demanding a proper investigation into the entire episode that killed their countrymen.
The protesters said that the investigation should be carried out by independent international organizations in an objective manner.
"We came here to appeal to the whole world to stop the brutal act in Tibet and second, we need a medical aid to all the Tibetan people who were injured, third we need help from the international community to investigate what is going in there in Tibet, fourth like we want to urge the government, request the Chinese government to have a dialogue with the Tibetan government in exile as well as the Dalai Lama," said Tenzing Mancho, a marcher.
Tibetans taking part in the march added that they would like the Chinese government to initiate a dialogue with the Tibetan-in-exile government and the Dalai Lama to reach a feasible and mutually acceptable conclusion regarding Tibet's autonomy.
They said that these protests that began on March 10, the Tibetan uprising day, will continue till a solution is reached.
India, which hosts the Tibetan spiritual leader the Dalai Lama and his government-in-exile, along with an estimated one million Tibetan exiles, has seen a wave of protests since the Chinese crackdown on anti-government demonstrations in Tibet last month.
The continuing protests ahead of the Beijing Olympics have been worrying China which has conveyed to New Delhi its concern over the safety of the Olympic torch during its relay in India, particularly after Tibetan protesters stormed the Chinese embassy in the Indian capital last month. - Copyright Holder: ANI (India)
