- Story Text: French President, Francois Hollande met Indian Prime Minister, Manmohan Singh in New Delhi on Thursday (February 14) to deepen strategic partnership between both nations.
Hollande is accompanied by France's First Lady Valerie Trierweiller, a high-level delegation including several key ministers of his Cabinet, senior officials, business-persons and media.
Earlier in the day, the French President met his Indian counterpart, Pranab Mukherjee at the Presidential residence in New Delhi and was presented with the state's ceremonial welcome.
He is also expected to hold delegation level talks with Foreign Minister Salman Khurshid besides calling on chief of ruling Congress party Sonia Gandhi and senior leader of main opposition Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Sushma Swaraj.
According to the India's Foreign Ministry, relations between the two countries had been laid on strong historical foundations and shared values.
There is also a growing and wide-ranging cooperation in areas such as trade and investment, culture, science and technology and education.
