- Story Text: Luxury brands on Tuesday (September 15) used the chance to introduce their new models at the 66th annual International Motor Show (IAA) in Frankfurt, where car makers showcase the latest technology and trends from the global automotive industry.
BMW presented in the SUV class its new X1 as a world premiere, set to be in showrooms as early as October.
Bentley for instance presents its Bentayga, a car that is not only extremely luxurious but also with more than 300 kilometres per hour very fast. Bentley's new SUV aims not to leave anything wanting, from its entertainment tablet to its 2,000 watt audio system.
Still in its old style but with a touch of the new is the new Rolls Royce convertible, called Dawn. Its trademark: all doors open "the wrong way around", meaning to the front. The interior is true to its luxurious theme.
Super sporty, however, is Bugatti's new Veyron 16.4, set to rev up the fast car aficionado with its 1,200 horsepower alone.
Ford hope to win over customers with the introduction of its large SUV Edge at the show. Based on the new Mondeo, the Edge promises to provide a better value because more spacious alternative to the Audi Q5 and BMW X3.
President of Ford Europe, Middle East and Asia, Jim Farley, told Reuters that the car show is a "chance to reflect on where the industry is going".
"I think this show is a turning point because we are not just talking about electrification. It's really the whole merging mobility area, I think, is the most exciting part of the show. When you get past the operational issues in the business, perhaps we as a generation, we are kind of seeing a shift here with emerging technologies could really change not only our industry and the revenue pools but also the economics of electrification," he added.
