- Story Text: French President Francois Hollande met with representatives from national and international NGOs in Paris on Saturday (September 12) to discuss sustainable development and migration, amid Europe's escalating migrant crisis and ahead of the World Climate Summit due to be hosted by Paris this winter.
Hollande, joined by French Energy Minister Segolene Royal, discussed reinforcing France's contribution to U.N. agencies and organisations working in Syria and neighbouring countries, and said he wanted to organise an international conference on refugees in the future, according to a news release issued by his office.
France began reconnaissance flights over Syria on Tuesday (September 8) with a view to launching air strikes against Islamic State.
It also plans to welcome 24,000 Syrian refugees from camps in the Middle East over the next two years. - Copyright Holder: POOL (CAN SELL)
