The collapse of our society and our ecosystems is on the horizon and time is running out. What happens in the next months and years will decide on how the future of human kind will look. Our collective extinction is a possible outcome. Politicians all over the world are ignoring the emergency. But we have decided that we cannot wait any longer. We have come together in Lausanne to unite behind our common goals. And take action." This is why we have decided to show them that our united vision is stronger. That at our hearts, we all carry the same concerns, goals and values, and they connect us in every moment, no matter where we are and what challenges we face. We are never alone because we know we are all part of one movement. But climate crisis knows no borders, and neither do we. Together we will all change this world for the better, for us and for all generations to come."

- Story Text:Young activists closed the Lausanne youth climate summit on Friday (August 9) after five days of working groups, brainstorming and speeches on how to further their movement and take action on climate change, saying they could no longer wait for politicians to make decisions.
Activists reached three points of consensus to present to European governments: to ensure climate justice and equity, to limit global warming to 1.5 degree Celsius and to listen to the best available science.
The summit, which was attended by 450 participants from 38 European countries, came to a close a day after the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) published a report on land and climate change.
The special report said climate change is damaging the world's land, causing crop losses and forest fires in some areas, while human activities are putting pressure on natural ecosystems and fuelling global warming.
IPCC representatives said the young activists had their full support.
The youth climate summit will end with a Fridays for Future demonstration in Lausanne, the school strike movement launched by campaigner Greta Thunberg and which has since spread to more than 100 countries.
