WHITE FLASH (SOUNDBITE) (English) CHELSEA MANAGER FRANK LAMPARD, SPEAKING ABOUT THE WEEKEND'S 4-0 DEFEAT BY MANCHESTER UNITED, SAYING: "What I learned from the players was that they did so many good things in the game. It's not easy to speak about them after losing 4-0 because the result says a lot but in terms of how we played in the game, if you take out the mistakes that led to the goals there were lots of good things so we have to analyse, and I have to analyse the lots of good things and we can improve on them because we need to score goals, not just create chances, and we need to be much better in not committing errors which lead to chances on the counter attack, because all good teams will make it difficult for you if you do that." WHITE FLASH (SOUNDBITE) (English) CHELSEA MANAGER FRANK LAMPARD, ASKED IF HE IS OPTIMISTIC ABOUT FACING LIVERPOOL, SAYING: "I'm optimistic because I believe in the players and I believe in the fact that we are here in the final because we deserve to be, that's the achievement of the players and the club last year, not myself, but I'm very proud to be here managing the team but I'm also very understanding of the quality of the opposition in Liverpool, a team that deservedly won the Champions League, have a fantastic manager and group of players. So we know it's going to be a big test." It means something or us as another trophy as a club and or me it would be a really nice start for me personally, even more than that the feeling for the players for the season coming up that we can compete against Liverpool." WHITE FLASH (SOUNDBITE) (English) CHELSEA MANAGER FRANK LAMPARD, SPEAKING ABOUT CHELSEA WITHOUT EDEN HAZARD, SAYING: "We have to find the way to carry on because a football club like Chelsea will always carry on, Eden Hazard, John Terry, Didier Drogba, etc., players move on and it's down to the next players, the next manager, that's our big challenge now, to say good luck to Eden Hazard and to carry on as Chelsea." WHITE FLASH (SOUNDBITE) (English) CHELSEA MANAGER FRANK LAMPARD, SPEAKING ABOUT THE FEMALE REFEREEING TEAM FOR THE SUPER CUP FINAL, SAYING: "In terms of how much respect the (women's) game is getting, how many people are watching it, the interest in the game, I think we were very slow everywhere on this and now we are trying to make strides and there's a long way to go but in terms of tomorrow I think it's a huge moment and it should be very well addressed and we're all very pleased and I'm pleased that it's a historical moment that is one more step in the right direction I'd say." - Story Text: Influential Chelsea midfielder N'Golo Kante may miss the Super Cup match against Liverpool in Istanbul on Wednesday (August 14) after suffering an injury in the 4-0 drubbing by Manchester United at the weekend.
Manager Frank Lampard said on Tuesday (August 13) he would make a decision with the player later in the evening.
Lampard said his side had played well against United but needed more penetration in front of goal and had to eliminate basic errors which resulted in conceding goals from counter-attacks.
Chelsea have sold playmaker and goalscorer Eden Hazard to Real Madrid and with a transfer ban in place, Lampard is determined that the current players will find a way to replace the Belgian.
Lampard also welcomed the all-female on-pitch refereeing team for the match. Stephanie Frappart will be the first woman to referee a major UEFA competition final and will be assisted by her French compatriot Manuela Nicolosi and Ireland's Michelle O'Neill.
The Super Cup is an annual match played between the winners of the Champions League and the Europa League. Liverpool beat Tottenham Hotspur in the Champions League final last season while Chelsea defeated Arsenal in the Europa League final.
