- Summary: BUENOS AIRES, ARGENTINA (AUGUST 11, 2019) (REUTERS) (SOUNDBITE) (Spanish) DIRECTOR OF "LA ODISEA DE LOS GILES/ HEROIC LOSERS," SEBASTIAN BORENSZTEIN, SAYING: "There is a chorus of characters in this film that represents the different social layers in our country. There is the destitute and the transportation business owner, then the middle-class small business owner, the public employee, the unemployed, the factory workers, the homemakers. There is a profile of society that's completely covered there. And, I liked that. And, they put aside their differences, including their ideological hostility in pursuit of a common objective, which is a bit of a summary of what a society should be that wants to get someplace, to settle on an objective. It's a metaphor in that sense."

- Story Text: A group of neighbors in a small town in the Argentine countryside who were swindled during the economic crisis of 2001 embark on an adventure to accomplish what millions of Argentines would have loved to have done: get back the money they feel was robbed from them.
That is the theme of the new film, "Heroic Losers" or "La Odisea de los Giles" in Spanish, by director Sebastian Borensztein, a sort of fictional vindication for all those fleeced during the 2001 crisis when the government imposed measures preventing citizens from accessing money they had saved in banks leading to massive protests.
In the film, a diverse group of locals with differing politics puts their savings together to bring back a closed granary in an attempt to get through the crisis. But the group is defrauded by a lawyer and a bank manager and end up losing everything.
The film, a drama with a strong sense of humor led by a star-studded cast including Ricardo Darin and his son Chino, debuts Thursday (August 15) in Argentina.
"Heroic Losers" is based on a novel by Argentine author Eduardo Sacheri called "La Noche de la Usina," or "The Night of the Heroic Losers," in English.
