- Story Text: French President Emmanuel Macron met with Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau on the sidelines of the G7 summit in France on Monday (August 26), as UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson also arrived for further meetings.
The meeting gathering the Britain, Canada, France, Germany, Italy, Japan and the U.S. has exposed rifts on issues from his intensifying trade war with China to the nuclear ambitions of both Iran and North Korea, and the question of whether Russian President Vladimir Putin should be readmitted to the group, and when Iran's foreign minister paid a visit to the summit Sunday (August 25), in what a White House official called "a surprise".
