- Story Text: It is an "outrage" that British Prime Minister Boris Johnson has chosen to shut down parliament, London Mayor Sadiq Khan said in Warsaw on Monday (September 2), as he urged the members of parliament to put aside their political differences to stop the United Kingdom from leaving the European Union without a deal.
Johnson suspended parliament for about a month before the deadline for the country to leave the EU.
His promise to take the country out of the European Union on October 31 with or without a divorce deal has propelled the UK towards a constitutional crisis and a battle with the 27 other members of the bloc.
Khan made the comments during a joint news conference with the Mayor of Warsaw, Rafal Trzaskowski, at the Polin Museum of the History of Polish Jews. Khan is in Poland to commemorate the 80th anniversary of the start of World War Two.
