I won the election partition this time because of the procedural justice, because the judgement, or the judge believe that candidates, any candidate should be given chances, should be given opportunity to explain their political view before being disqualified, but even we won the point on the procedural justice the returning officer still has the authority to disqualify a person by their political stance. Pro-democracy activist Agnes Chow said on Monday (September 2) a Hong Kong court decision overturning a ban for her to run in the legislative elections was "not a complete victory".
Chow, who was currently out on bail together with her colleague Joshua Wong after being arrested last week for allegedly organising an unauthorised rally, said the court only recognised her appeal because the officer in charge did not give her sufficient time to respond. The officer in charge can still disqualify anyone from running in the next elections they deem to be pro-democratic, she added.
In 2018, Chow was disqualified from running in the elections due to her affiliation with pro-democracy group Demosisto. She later filed an appeal challenging the decision.
