- Story Text: Thai police spokesman Prawut Thavornsiri said on Thursday (August 20) that suspects of Bangkok blast might be more than three while Prime Minister Prayuth Chan-ocha said it signalled a threat to the whole region.
"I don't know now but it's more than three," Prawut told media during his visit to check the closed circuit cameras in the area near the blast.
Police said at least 10 people were suspected of involvement in the attack and they appealed to Interpol for help in finding the man caught in the video footage.
National police chief Somyot Pumpanmuang said the investigation showed the attack was planned at least a month in advance and a "big network" was involved.
"Yes, we will take another look at it (CCTV), back for more than a month. We will check all the areas, how many people involved, we will trace back all of them," said Prawut.
International terrorists were not suspected of a bomb attack in Bangkok this week that killed 20 people and China was not the target, Thai authorities said on Thursday.
There has been no claim of responsibility for the Monday evening attack on a famous shrine crowded with tourists, which the government has said was designed to wreck the economy. Authorities have not blamed any group for carrying out Thailand's worst bombing.
Police also step up security in all areas.
"Yes, we will x-ray all area in Bangkok an other areas (provinces) as well. Don't know how many but all areas." said Prawut.
Prayuth said on Thursday that he haven't ruled out any possibility and denied it was an act of terrorism.
The Erawan shrine is particularly popular with tourists from China and other East Asian countries, and 11 foreigners were among the dead, including six from mainland China and Hong Kong. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
