- Story Text: Former "Friends" star Jennifer Aniston made her first public appearance as a newly-married woman at the Los Angeles premier of "She's Funny That Way" on Wednesday (August 19).
Aniston married her longtime boyfriend Justin Theroux at their Los Angeles-area home in a secret ceremony that took the media and many of the couple's guests by surprise.
In the film, a screwball comedy, Aniston plays therapist Jane, who is consumed with her own failing relationship. The movie is directed and written by Peter Bogdanovich, and tells the story of a theater director, played by Owen Wilson, who casts a prostitute he slept with in a production alongside his wife and her former lover.
Wilson said he was honored to be asked to star in the movie, Bogdanovich's first feature film for 14 years.
"This is with my really close friend Peter Bogdanovich and he'd talked about it for years and I was honored when he thought that maybe I could play this character," he said.
"That's sort of one of the reasons why he was able to get such a good cast, because I think people wanted to work with Peter and he's done so many movies that just sort of live in our cinematic imagination."
British actress Imogen Poots, who plays the prostitute-turned-actress, said Bogdanovich directed the film like a dance.
"It's very much choreographed and working with him was very much like a dance and the pace of the filmmaking and everything was sort of, you up the ante with it, so that was a chance to really, like, go there and have a ball making the film," she said.
Oscar-winning filmmaker Quentin Tarantino has a small cameo in the film. He plays himself as Poots' love interest at the end of the film.
"Peter offered me the role. We've been friends for a long time, I thought it would be wonderful to go to my grave saying that I was in a Peter Bogdanovich movie," Tarantino said.
"She's Funny That Way" opens in limited theaters and video on demand on Friday (August 21).
Aniston, whose first marriage to actor Brad Pitt ended in divorce 10 years ago, met actor and "Tropic Thunder" screenwriter Theroux in 2008, and the couple announced their engagement in 2012.
Her love life, including romances with musician John Mayer and actor Vince Vaughn, has been the focus of intense celebrity media speculation since the split with Pitt, who went on to strike up a relationship with Angelina Jolie.
