- Story Text: A Moscow court on Wednesday (September 25) ruled to extend the pre-trial detention of two participants of the unauthorized summer rally in Moscow until December 27, 2019.
A 21-year-old student and blogger with more than 100,000 YouTube followers whose arrest had caused outcry among classmates, Yegor Zhukov, was arrested on charges of participating in a riot on July 27.
A Moscow court then dropped the charge and ruled to move him from jail to house arrest. The charge of inciting extremism online, however, remains in place.
Another 21-year-old man, Samariddin Radjabov, was accused of violence against a riot officer and participation in mass riots in the same unauthorized protest rally in July.
Police detained over 2,000 people at summer protests in Moscow, which began in mid-July, with courts jailing some of those who took part for up to four years.
