I mean we are all responsible. We have all been living beyond our means. It's a perfectly simple thing because you know, we knew not what we did. We didn't realise. I mean, my own living, my own circumstances, it never occurred to me, for example, that animals could be exterminated and species could be exterminated. In the 1950s I was catching animals from the London Zoo and I wouldn't possibly do that now. The wild population cannot take that sort of thing."/ STILL FRAME OF ATTENBOROUGH ON END OF SOUNDBITE

- Story Text:World renowned British naturalist Sir David Attenborough, 93, is being tipped as possible contender for the 2019 Nobel Peace Prize.
Attenborough, considered to be one of the world's most influential wildlife broadcasters, has become increasingly outspoken about the risks posed by the climate crises in recent years.
With a television career spanning more than 60 years, Attenborough's documentaries such as "Planet Earth" and "Blue Planet" have sparked public concern over population growth and plastic use. He is also well-known for wildlife documentaries such as "Life on Earth", "Frozen Planet" and "Africa".
Attenborough was knighted in 1985. He is also a former senior manager of the BBC, as a controller of BBC Two and director of programming for BBC Television in the 1960s and 1970s.
