- Story Text: The cast of "No Escape" -- a movie shot in Thailand -- offered their condolences to the victims of a bomb blast at a popular shrine in Bangkok, at the premiere of the film on Monday (August 17).
The blast the Erawan shrine killed 22 people including eight foreigners. Thai Officials have yet to blame any group for the bombing and no group has claimed responsibility.
"I just heard when I got out of the car about the tragedy in Bangkok today so that was a bit of a blow and my heart and prayers go out to the people and the families at such a time and such an atrocity and enough is enough," said actor Pierce Brosnan, one of the film's stars.
In the movie, Owen Wilson plays a businessman trapped with his family in an fictional south Asian country when a coup breaks out.
"It seems to be the times we're living in, but you hate to see it happen, especially in a great country like Thailand, such a beautiful country with great people and very gentle people, so sad," he said.
The film was shot in Chiang Mai, northern Thailand, in 2013 and will be released in theaters on August 26.
A Thai national police spokesman said the death toll from the blast stood at 22, with 123 people wounded.
Thai forces are fighting a low-level Muslim insurgency in the predominantly Buddhist country's south, but those rebels have rarely launched attacks outside their heartland. - Copyright Holder: REUTERS
