- Story Text: More than 1,000 tourists arrived in Venezuela's La Guaira port on Thursday (October 3) after being brought to the crisis-plagued country by the Peace Boat, a Japan-based NGO that promotes intercultural communication.
The Peace Boat passengers will be in Venezuela for two days and will be able to take advantage of Venezuelan cultural biodiversity programs.
Upon its departure from Venezuela, the Peace Boat will head to Santo Domingo in the Dominican Republic as it continues on its around-the-world journey.
Venezuelans have endured a crippling economic crisis and mass emigration of people fleeing food and medicine shortages in recent years.
