- Story Text: "Chalamania" took over London's Leicester Square on Thursday (October 3) as young superstars Timothee Chalamet and Lily-Rose Depp appeared on the red carpet for the London Film Festival premiere of their new Netflix film "The King".
Chalamet arrived early, taking his time to greet fans, hugging many of them as he posed for selfies and signed autographs.
The actor, who reportedly brought bagels for his fans at the New York premiere of the "The King" on Tuesday (October 1) told Reuters his fan-friendly approach came naturally.
"It's all good. I think I got lucky too, everyone that comes to these things has like really good energy, you see, they've got really good energy so...no, I appreciate it, I really appreciate, and no, I enjoy it," he said.
In the movie, a mediaeval coming-of-age tale loosely based on William Shakespeare's plays about Prince Hal and his transformation into England's King Henry V, Chalamet plays an unwilling heir who inherits the throne.
The 23-year-old "Call Me by Your Name" and "Beautiful Boy" actor stars alongside Joel Edgerton, who plays Hal's hard-drinking friend and mentor Sir John Falstaff and Depp, who portrays Catherine, daughter of France's King Charles, an outspoken and confident woman.
Asked about the women she looks up to and is inspired by in her personal life, Depp paid tribute to her mother, singer and model Vanessa Paradis.
"There's so many women, honestly. I'm just so lucky to be surrounded in my personal life by so many incredible women. I mean, my mum is like my absolute idol, she is really the kind of woman I'd love to be. And also just all of my friends and everybody that I grew up around, I'm really lucky to be surrounded by so many incredible women," she said.
The film also stars "Twilight" actor Robert Pattinson as the French heir, Ben Mendelsohn, who features as Hal's father, Henry IV, and Sean Harris who plays his chief adviser William Cascoigne.
The film is due to have a limited release in the United States on October 11 before launching on Netflix on November 1.
