- Story Text: The United States and Montenegro, which joined NATO in 2017, are finalising their biggest bilateral arms deal, U.S. Secretary of State Mike Pompeo said on Friday (October 4).
Pompeo said the deal comprised $36 million dollars worth of light tactical vehicles.
Pompeo is on a short trip to Montenegro and North Macedonia, which is in the process of joining the Atlantic alliance.
He also commended intelligence cooperation with Montenegro, saying it had produced patches protecting "billions" of devices from Russian malware.
Montenegrin Prime Minister Dusko Markovic said via an interpreter the country would reach NATO's goal of spending 2% of GDP on defence by 2024.
