- Date: 7th October 2019
- Summary: LONDON, ENGLAND, UNITED KINGDOM (OCTOBER 7, 2019) (REUTERS) 'THUNDERBALL' AMERICAN DOOR PANEL POSTERS FEATURING SEAN CONNERY (FROM 1965 - ESTIMATED SALES PRICE £25,000-£30,000 / $31,500- $37,500) (SOUNDBITE) (English) POSTER CONSULTANT FOR THE PROP STORE, MICHAEL BLOOMFIELD, SAYING: "It's one of the biggest collections of James Bond posters in the world, and it's certainly going to be the biggest auction of James Bond posters in the world. We've got 462 lots." 'THUNDERBALL' DOOR PANEL POSTER FEATURING CONNERY (SOUNDBITE) (English) POSTER CONSULTANT FOR THE PROP STORE, MICHAEL BLOOMFIELD, SAYING: "So this is the most expensive lot in the entire auction, the 'Thunderball' American door panels, four separate panels. The first three show actresses from the film and the fourth shows the man, James Bond. The first three are photographic pieces, and Bond is a piece of poster illustration by Robert McGinnis." VARIOUS OF THUNDERBALL' DOOR PANEL POSTERS (SOUNDBITE) (English) POSTER CONSULTANT FOR THE PROP STORE, MICHAEL BLOOMFIELD, SAYING: "There are a number of items that have either never been through the auction market before, or they come up maybe once twice every 10, 20 years." VARIOUS OF 'DR. NO' MOVIE POSTER FEATURING CONNERY (FROM 1962 - ESTIMATED SALES PRICE £8,000- £10,000 / $10,000 - $12,500) (SOUNDBITE) (English) POSTER CONSULTANT FOR THE PROP STORE, MICHAEL BLOOMFIELD, SAYING: "Dr. No, this was the very first James Bond film. So this would have been the first thing that the British viewing public would have would have seen outside cinemas. It's an interesting poster in terms of what it tells us about what has happened in the poster market, the cinema poster market over the past 20 years. Because in the year 2000 you could buy that poster for 2,000-3,000 pounds, by the year 2010 it's up to 5,000-6,000 pounds. And this poster is in our current auction for 8,000-10,000 pounds, and I'd expect it to go higher than that. So that's that kind of price appreciation has been you know quite remarkable over a 20-year period." VARIOUS OF 'THUNDERBALL' UK QUAD ADVANCE POSTER (FROM 1956 - ESTIMATED SALES PRICE £10,000-12,000 / $12,500 - $15,000) (SOUNDBITE) (English) POSTER CONSULTANT FOR THE PROP STORE MICHAEL BLOOMFIELD, SAYING: "The Thunderball advance squad is actually the rarest of all British Bond posters. This poster is in the auction with an estimate of 10,000-12,000 pounds." VARIOUS OF AUCTION CATALOGUE (SOUNDBITE) (English) POSTER CONSULTANT FOR THE PROP STORE, MICHAEL BLOOMFIELD, SAYING: (SOUNDBITE STARTS ON SHOT OF THREE POSTERS) "So here we've got three examples of really, the global reach of the poster auction. We've got a Hong Kong 'Living Daylights' poster here, an 'Octopussy' Japanese poster, and then a Yamaha promo poster for 'For Your Eyes Only'. The 'Octopussy' is a really rare poster. It's a Japanese advance poster, printed on foil and an unusually large format for Japanese posters a B1 format. We have only seen one of these posters in the auction market worldwide in the past 25 years. And it was that, that poster which came up at auction 12 years ago. So that gives you some indication of quite how rare that poster is." VARIOUS OF 'OCTOPUSSY' JAPANESE FOIL ADVANCE POSTER (FROM 1983 - ESTIMATED SALES PRICE £500-£700 / $625-$875) VARIOUS OF 'THE LIVING DAYLIGHTS' HONG KONG, CARLSBERG POSTER FEATURING TIMOTHY DALTON (FROM 1987 - ESTIMATED SALES PRICE £100-£200 / $125-$250) VARIOUS OF SWISS SWATCH JAMES BOND 40TH ANNIVERSARY PRESENTATION CASE (RELEASED IN 2002 - ESTIMATED SALES PRICE £2,500-£3,000 / $3,000-3,500)

- Story Text:Over 460 rare James Bond posters and items of memorabilia will go up for auction in November. The world renowned collection represents the largest Bond offering to hit the auction market.
The Prop Store released a statement on Monday (October 7) announcing its fourth cinema poster auction, which is expected to fetch in excess of £250,000 ($307,000).
In an interview with Reuters, poster consultant for the Prop Store, Michael Bloomfield, explained the significance of the collection and what it means for serious Bond collectors.
"It's one of the biggest collections of James Bond posters in the world, and it's certainly going to be the biggest auction of James Bond posters in the world," Bloomfield said.
Amongst some of the rare items on auction are four door panel posters from the movie 'Thunderball' released in 1965, starring Sean Connery.
"This is the most expensive lot in the entire auction, the 'Thunderball' American door panels, four separate panels. The first three show actresses from the film and the fourth shows the man, James Bond," said Bloomfield.
He added: "There are a number of items that have either never been through the auction market before, or they come up maybe once twice every 10, 20 years."
There are several items in the auction that are expected to gain international interest, including the Japanese poster for 'Octopussy' from 1983, the 'Living Daylights' Hong Kong Poster from 1987 and the Swiss Swatch James Bond 40th anniversary Presentation case from 2002.
Prop Store has been operating since 1998 and sells original movie props and costumes and related memorabilia, regularly hosting live and online prop and costume auctions.
The auction will take place on November 5 online and in London.
