- Story Text: Hong Kong struggled to recover on Monday (October 7), with the metro only partially functioning and some shops still closed, after scores of protesters were arrested in violent clashes overnight that drew the first warning from the Chinese military.
Hong Kong's rail operator, MTR Corp, said on Monday that, due to "serious vandalism", most of the stations in the network are temporarily closed. That include typically busy stations such as Admiralty and Wan Chai, which are around the city's bar district.
MTR's announcement followed an unprecedented closure on Saturday (October 5) and minimal operations on Sunday (October 6), which paralysed much of the city.
Further protests are planned in different districts on Monday evening.
