- Story Text:A deer calf found a new home in Russia's central Samara region after being left at a doorstep of a local animal activist's house.
The activist and an animal-lover, Alexander Tsarev said he found the starving calf who was smaller than a newborn in a carton box outside of his house. The animal looked like Disney's Bambi and probably partially shared the cartoon character's fate. According to Tsarev, the calf's mother had most likely been killed by the hunters who for some reason had a heart to bring its calf to a local animal shelter run by Tsarev and his wife.
The calf named Oscar has since grew up and lost its Bambi spots. It lives with puppies in an enclosure, and seems to get along with other shelter inhabitants including foxes and multiple goats.
There is no chance for Oscar to get back into the wild, according to Tsarev: the animal has been too close to humans and would not be able to survive on its own.
Alexander Tsarev and his wife Yekaterina own an animal hotel in their house. The couple spends their income to help injured and abandoned animals.
