- Story Text: U.S. reality TV star Kim Kardashian said on Tuesday (October 8) that she always wanted to be on television, but figured out a balance in privacy as she got older.
"I always knew that I wanted to be on TV, but I was always fascinated by reality TV. I know that sounds like a ridiculous goal maybe, because especially back then reality TV, it just wasn't really that popular," Kardashian told the World Congress on Information Technology (WCIT) in the Armenian capital Yerevan.
WCIT is organised by the World Information Technology & Services Alliance, a consortium of ICT associations from 83 countries, representing 90 percent of the industry.
Kardashian came to Armenia on Monday (October 7), four years after her first visit to the South Caucasus country of her ancestors, to attend the congress and to talk about her experience as a media personality, businesswoman and a future lawyer.
"I was super inspired by things that I saw here in Armenia. So I'll go back with some new ideas. I've thought of like four ideas, that I'm excited about," she told a cheering audience.
She said her organisational skills helped her to do her job, but "it was OK to wing it sometimes."
She added that it took years for her to find a balance in what she was sharing online.
"I think at the beginning, I didn't even know what the word privacy really meant. I was very okay with people knowing every detail of my life. As you get a little bit older and you have kids, and you realize you do want to value some privacy I figured out a really good balance of sharing what I want to share. I think you know you there, there definitely is oversharing, especially when safety can be a factor," said Kardashian, who has over 60 million followers on Twitter and nearly 150 million followers on Instagram.
The media personality and Vogue cover star said it had been a long and complicated road for her. Kardashian, who is seen as one of the influential trend-setter in the world, said that experience has taught her not to follow trends blindly.
